"Success
in the Sunshine"

"Success in the Sunshine," a 27-minute broadcast quality
video sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA, transports viewers around Florida to see examples of award-winning leaders hip on urgent issues of environmental quality and economic development.
Comments by such outstanding Floridians as Glenda Hood, Florida Secretary of State;
Robert L. Bendick, Jr., Southeast Director, The Nature Conservancy; and
James F. Murley, Director, FAU/FIU Joint Center for Environmental & Urban Problems, are
supported by 12 success stories from around the state. Florida Foresight is promoting the video to PBS stations for Earth Day programming in April 2003, coordinating related community events, and developing a Viewer's Guide to transfer lessons learned to businesses, governments, and citizen groups in Florida and throughout the United
States.
“Success” is a Florida Foresight leadership program that will
continue to expand. It was launched in 2003 with a 27-minute
broadcast quality video, “Success in the Sunshine,” accompanied
by an 90-page viewer’s guide, “Signs of Success," with an
education activity supplement and information contact directory, and
a public exhibit for workshops and conferences.
A set of the “Success
in the Sunshine” video's and Viewer’s Guide, “Signs of Success,” can
be purchased from Florida Foresight for $27.00 including postage and
handling.
The video transports viewers
around Florida to see award-winning solutions to the challenges
facing communities, businesses, and citizen groups as they work for
economic development, environmental protection, and quality of life
in the face of rapid population growth. "Success in the
Sunshine" features
Floridians who have become leaders in community planning, green
construction, nature/heritage tourism, recreation and sports,
environmental protection, ecosystem restoration, and water and
energy conservation. Their experiences have broad application and
can assist communities addressing similar problems across the
nation.
Ultimately, lessons learned from “Success in the Sunshine”
could improve the quality of life for coastal communities. The video
was distributed by the Florida Public Broadcasting stations in Florida for Earth Day 2003
programming.
