The
Big Bend Scenic Byway

Wakulla
County has already won approval from the Florida Department of
Transportation to pursue designation of an 88-mile scenic coastal
corridor, and work is under way in Franklin and Leon Counties
to make the entire 248-mile Big
Bend Scenic Byway a reality.
The proposed Byway also includes 32 miles of the Apalachicola National Forest in
Liberty County previously designated by the USDA Forest Service as
the Apalachee Savannahs Scenic Byway.
Florida Foresight
has partnered with local citizen groups and agencies to support and
expand this grassroots process as an excellent tool for planning and
economic development as well as for protection
and enhancement of intrinsic resources—natural, scenic,
recreational, historic, cultural, and archaeological—along the
Byway.
